This news looks especially small.. A product update tucked among today’s full-screen hype about “Bitcoin hitting 87,000” — almost nobody would click..

What most people see is that the U.S.-based exchange listed on Nasdaq has added yet another “borrow money” feature.. Use Bitcoin as collateral to borrow stablecoins and spend them.. Then it just gets withdrawn, because it doesn’t seem to have much to do with their own holdings..

But I think what’s really worth looking at isn’t “you can borrow again” — it’s that this time it’s written with a fixed interest rate.. The moment you borrow, the interest rate and repayment date are locked in together..

And that starts to be different.. Previously, on-chain lending and borrowing was mostly floating-rate; when demand rose, interest would climb with it, and your position would be repriced by the market at any moment.. Fixed interest rates mean you can finally calculate your costs upfront, and then decide how long to borrow and how much to repay..

What’s even more interesting is where it runs.. It’s not the exchange’s own ledger; it’s a decentralized lending protocol, and the settlement ends up on its own Layer 2 network.. A publicly listed company has basically taken one of the most standard products in traditional finance and plugged the entire thing into the blockchain..

So what’s the other side of this.. It’s that Bitcoin is shifting from “buy it to pump it” to “use it”.. The on-chain collateralized borrowing market is currently roughly $16 billion, and one report estimates it could grow to $130 billion by 2030.. In a prior survey of over a thousand coin holders, more than 80% said they would be willing to consider using their coins as collateral to borrow money..

If this trend continues.. what gets repriced won’t just be the coin price, but Bitcoin’s “utility premium”.. The same coin that can be borrowed against will be worth more than the one that can only sit in a wallet..

But the question is.. Where does this fixed-rate borrowed money actually come from, and who is on the other side collecting that interest.. If one day the coin price drops quickly, can this liquidation mechanism withstand a first real-world stress test..

When the market swings violently next time, you’ll probably be able to tell whether it’s just another tool, or whether it truly moves the credit market onto the blockchain..#比特币突破8.7万美元创八个月新高
