⌞U card save-money tips⌝
I’ve been testing how the U card works for domestic usage, and here are a few things to watch out for
1)When booking hotels on Ctrip, there’s no foreign currency exchange fee—but booking flights will charge 3.5%. Remember: don’t buy flight tickets with the U card
2)On Taobao and JD, you can only bind cards that use UnionPay. For online shopping, just give up
3)You can bind Alipay and WeChat Pay, but anything over 200 RMB will incur a 3% additional foreign currency conversion fee. This is forcibly charged by these two giants—so it’s recommended to use them for small purchases only
4)For domestic physical card swiping, note that swiping won’t be charged the 3%. Suggestion: keep your card on you and swipe anytime
5)There are very few scenarios where Apple Pay works domestically, but it really saves money
6)For overseas purchases, you won’t be charged any of these 3% fees. When you go abroad for travel, feel free to shop to your heart’s content
Wishing everyone more and more money coming in—may you get rich this year!
