Odaily Planet Daily News: OpenChat, a decentralized chat application based on the DFINITY Internet Computer, raised more than $5.5 million in a crowdfunding sale last week. Its recent token sale had 2,375 participants, allowing them to purchase OpenChat's native governance token CHAT to form a DAO. After the token sale, the OpenChat team said that the on-chain messaging platform will be owned and controlled by its community of token holders, rather than a centralized technology company. The team said that new funds raised from the "decentralized sale" of tokens will be deposited in OpenChat's DAO Treasury, and token holders will decide how to best use them. The platform will allow users to directly vote on new proposals for upgrades, features, and Treasury fund allocations through the Service Nervous System (SNS), the governance system model used on the Internet Computer.
