According to Cointelegraph, on October 5, social media reported that the StarsArena Web3 application on Avalanche lost some funds due to a malicious attack. StarsArena user Lilitch.eth discovered the vulnerability and announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) that more than $1 million was lost in the attack. The StarsArena team confirmed the attack, calling it a "war" against the application, and said that the attack only caused a loss of about $2,000 and the vulnerability has now been fixed. StarsArena is a Web3 social media application running on the Avalanche network, similar to Friend.tech, that allows users to purchase "shares" or tokenized assets issued by content creators. Since StarsArena went live, Avalanche's activity has surged, with the network's daily transaction volume increasing by 186% from October 3 to 4.
