Sony is Preparing to Open Its Own Cryptocurrency Exchange

Japan's giant name Sony is preparing to establish a cryptocurrency exchange under its own structure.

According to the statement made today, Sony plans to revive the cryptocurrency trading platform called WhaleFin, which it acquired last year.

The name of the stock exchange has changed

WhaleFin's name is S.BLOX Co. It was announced that it was changed to . The cryptocurrency exchange will collaborate with other businesses within Sony to add more value to the services it offers.

According to the information in the statement, the stock exchange will also change the user interface and release a mobile application that is easier to use. It was not stated when the cryptocurrency exchange called S.BLOX will enter the market.

This Japan-based cryptocurrency exchange was first known as DeCurret. The stock exchange was acquired by a company affiliated with Singapore-based Amber Group in 2022. Later, Sony-affiliated Quetta Web Co. acquired the stock exchange in August 2023.

Strengthens its position in the market

Sony has made significant strides in the field of blockchain over the past few years. Sony Network Communications partnered with blockchain company Startale Labs to build Sony's own blockchain network.

The CEO of Startale Labs said in a statement today that Sony's cryptocurrency exchange will be managed by a Startale director.
