$BB Today’s most worth-watching contrast: after the mainnet stops support for what is deemed a security incident follow-up, the price first trades as if it were a “migration settlement.”
In a Binance announcement on August 31, BounceBit permanently closed BounceBit Chain due to a hack incident. BB mainnet deposits and withdrawals were paused at 02:00 UTC on August 20; starting at 07:00 UTC on September 1, BNB Smart Chain (BEP20) deposits and withdrawals will reopen. The migration ratio is 1:1. Spot, leverage, futures, and Earn are not affected.
The incident itself cannot be downplayed. CoinGecko cited the project’s announcement showing that from 21:02 on August 19 to 01:54 on August 20 UTC, the attacker exploited an authorization flaw in a built-in protocol feature. The Block reported that about 286.5 million BB tokens and 9 accounts were affected. Around 10:05, Binance spot BBUSDT was about 0.00952, up 10.31% in 24h; trading volume was about 1.76 million USDT. CoinGecko’s total-volume figure was about $7.59 million.
The bullish case is that BEP20 deposits/withdrawals run smoothly, the price gap across exchanges converges, and the new contracts on BNB Chain have no counterfeit/fishing confusion. The neutral case is that the event only fixes the deposit/withdrawal channels. The bearish case is that liquidity remains thin, migration controversy persists, or the security review and follow-up remain unclear for a long time. The question is: is the market buying a completed migration, or the short-term liquidity gap of a low-market-cap event?
