According to Binance’s preliminary investigation, the security incident may have originated from the compromise of a DevOps engineer’s laptop. The attacker allegedly used that access to reach a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions.
At this stage, there is no evidence that wallet private keys were exposed or leaked. Once the investigation is complete and all relevant facts have been verified, Binance will publish a comprehensive technical post-mortem explaining what happened and how it occurred.
Financial Impact and User Funds
The estimated total financial impact of the incident is approximately $6.3 billion.
Binance has been working closely with blockchain partners to identify and freeze the affected assets. So far, around $3 billion worth of funds have been frozen on-chain.
Binance has stated that all losses will be covered through the SAFU Fund and the company’s own resources. User funds remain protected.
Following the completion of the remediation process, Binance will also release an updated Proof of Reserves report.
Immediate Security Measures
As a precautionary measure, Binance has taken several immediate steps:
Deposits and withdrawals have been temporarily suspended while security checks are completed.
Authorization linked to the affected address has been revoked.
Binance is working with law enforcement agencies and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover the affected funds.
Security and investigation teams are working around the clock to resolve the situation safely and thoroughly.
Binance is also cooperating with law enforcement partners to identify those responsible and support efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Stay Alert
Users should rely only on Binance’s official communication channels for further updates and avoid unverified claims circulating online. $BNB
Price is holding above the MA(7) and MA(25) after bouncing from $277.39 support. A clean break above $285.90 can open the way toward $297 and potentially $308.
BTC is sitting close to the $76.6K-$76.9K support zone, with $78.2K-$78.6K as the first major recovery area. Short-term momentum is still weak, so keep the position controlled. $BTC #AmazonSharesFallAbout7%InPremarketTrading
Entry: $3,885 Bias: 🟢 Bullish rebound, but high-risk zone
TP1: $3,920 TP2: $3,960 TP3: $4,000 TP4: $4,040
Stop Loss: $3,845 $XAUT XAUT is sitting near the recent low area around $3,877-$3,882, so this is a possible bounce zone. Recent data shows strong selling pressure, so I would keep the position size controlled and avoid chasing if $3,900 fails to reclaim.
Invalidation: A sustained break below $3,845 would weaken the long setup significantly.
OCTOBER 29, 2026, WILL GO DOWN AS ONE OF THE DARKEST DAYS IN CRYPTO HISTORY.
A $6.3 BILLION hack at Binance has sent shockwaves through the entire crypto market.
Bitcoin has crashed below $77,000, more than $170 BILLION has been wiped out from the market. But the size of the theft is what makes this historic.
The hackers gained control of multiple Binance wallets, transferred billions within minutes, and even managed to drain new deposits arriving in compromised wallets.
For comparison, the previous largest crypto hack was Bybit's $1.5 billion theft in 2025.
The Binance hack is more than FOUR TIMES that amount.
And the response has been massive.
• Tether froze over $1.56 BILLION in stolen USDT.
• Circle froze another $823 MILLION in USDC.
• Other companies and security teams blocked hundreds of millions more.
• Binance temporarily suspended withdrawals and deposits to secure its systems.
• Binance confirmed that customer funds are safe and that it will cover the losses.
This also shows how much damage a single attack can cause beyond the exchange itself.
But there's something surprising about the market's reaction.
The world's largest crypto exchange just suffered a $6.3 BILLION hack, the biggest in crypto history, and Bitcoin crashed only 6%.
That's actually insane when you consider the scale of what happened.
If something like this had happened last year, the market could have suffered a much bigger crash.
The fact that Bitcoin has held up this well despite such a massive hack shows just how much stronger the crypto market has become.$BTC #BinancePick
$77,300 is an important support area. Recent technical analysis also identifies the $76.2K-$76.4K zone as the next major support, so losing $76.4K would weaken the long setup significantly.
