4.9 Million Huobi Customers' Data Leaked Due to Exchange's Security Breach

On Monday (July 3), the Huobi exchange confirmed that 4,960 customers of its cryptocurrency trading platform had their contact information leaked due to an incident exposed by white hat hacker Aaron Phillips last Wednesday (June 28).

The hacker who discovered the issue claimed it would be "the biggest cryptocurrency theft in history" if Huobi hadn't taken action in time.

According to the expert's investigation, the breach occurred in mid-2021 and involved the exposure of credentials granting write privileges to all of Huobi's AWS S3 buckets, which the company uses for cloud storage.

In response to The Block, a spokesperson for Huobi ensured that the incident had already been fixed.
