According to The Block, Ethereum Name Service (ENS) developer ENS Labs said in a community conference call on Thursday that the protocol plans to achieve interoperability between ENS domain names and Ethereum Layer 2.
The team said that achieving interoperability with Ethereum Layer 2 will be an important upgrade. The team plans to use off-chain resolvers to achieve the above upgrades with the help of the ENS off-chain registrar contract and various service providers.
In addition, ENS Labs said that Gasless DNS Names is expected to be released in the fourth quarter of this year to lower the entry barrier for traditional Internet users.
