No new positions before the announcement. I’ll reclaim 82,000 to test a long; if we close below 79,200, I’ll short with the trend (5/5)
With just one day to go before the announcement, I’m not opening any new Bitcoin positions. I won’t chase rallies or sell into dips.
If I’m already in a position, my plan is to reduce both my position size and leverage first, to a level where I can still sleep if the market whipsaws in both directions around the press conference. The order book tends to be thin before and after the announcement.
I’ll consider testing a long only if the daily candle closes back above 82,000. I’ll start small, add if the price retests 82,000 and holds, and exit if the daily candle falls back below it.
If the daily candle closes below 79,200, I’ll short with the trend. I won’t chase the candle that breaks support; I’ll wait for a rebound toward 79,200 that fails to reclaim it before entering, with my stop just above that level.
If neither condition is triggered and the price chops around in between, I’ll sit tight.
There’s also a batch of options expiring at 4 p.m. Friday. Volatility could be higher than usual over the next couple of days, so I won’t add my position back just because of one bullish candle.
If the price closes straight above 82,000 after the announcement, I’ll let the move go if I missed the earlier low. I won’t chase the first candle.
I won’t add to any of my positions before the daily candle closes at 8 a.m. Thursday.
