Cross-shard transactions need to pass messages between different shards to coordinate their completion. They are usually more complex and slower than transactions within a single shard.
When transferring funds on a sharded public blockchain, keep an eye on the confirmation progress in your wallet. Cross-shard transfers may take a little longer than regular transactions.
