$SNDK SanDisk’s earnings blew the roof off, yet the stock crashed? Don’t rush to buy the dip just yet.

SanDisk just reported truly impressive results: nearly $9 billion in quarterly revenue, with profit surging more than a hundredfold year over year. But the stock has already been cut in half from its high. The reason is straightforward: the good news has been priced in, and the market is starting to price in concerns about an oversupply of future supply.

The HBM market is dominated by Samsung and SK hynix. SanDisk’s HBF bet has already seen standards announced jointly with SK hynix, but commercialization is still some way off, so its moat isn’t strong enough for now. As for market dynamics, bears are in control, dip buyers are staying on the sidelines, and the moving averages are in a bearish alignment. The 1,300 level is looking precarious.

My approach: absolutely no catching falling knives. Short positions can be held for now; for long positions, wait for a convincing rebound with rising volume before considering an entry.
