There’s a scene that repeats every week in Venezuelan P2P trading: someone sees an ad with an eye-catching price, opens the merchant’s chat, and discovers that the minimum amount is very high, the bank isn’t theirs, or the maximum limit doesn’t cover what they need. The price they saw was never their price.
This tutorial is a pre-trade verification routine. It does not tell you whether to buy or sell; it teaches you how to read the P2P order book to find out which price actually applies to your amount, your bank, and your limit. All the data below comes from a snapshot taken on October 17, 2026, at around 02:00 UTC, with 243 ads visible in the book and 265 active offers reported by the radar.
📊 Two spreads that measure different things (3.45% vs. 0.13%)
The first mistake is thinking the radar and the book should show the same thing. They don’t, because they measure different things.
• Radar spread: 3.45%. It comes from comparing the buy reference (1,017.05 Bs) with the sell reference (983.13 Bs). It is a broad measure that combines ads from different platforms, amounts, and payment methods. In the snapshot, the traffic light was yellow, with a score of 65 and the label “moderate caution.”
• Actual book spread: 0.13%. It is the difference between the best sell price (1,008.85 Bs) and the best buy price (1,007.51 Bs), or 1.34 Bs. That is the gap between the cheapest and most expensive offers posted at that moment, with their limits and banks visible.
The radar spread is more than 25 times the book spread. Neither is “wrong”: the first describes the overall market conditions; the second describes the specific marketplace where you’ll execute your trade. When making a decision, the book is what matters.
One detail worth examining closely: in the same snapshot, the radar showed 983.13 Bs as the sell reference, while the book’s best bid was 1,007.51 Bs. That’s a difference of 24.38 Bs. It doesn’t mean either figure is wrong; it means the radar reference and the book are built from different sets of offers. Always check which one you’re using.
📈 What the yellow traffic light is telling you
The traffic light isn’t a verdict; it’s a breakdown. In the snapshot, the internal metrics showed:
• Liquidity: 95/100. Counterparties are available.
• Bank availability: 95/100. Payment methods are well distributed.
• Spread: 20/100. That’s the problem. The signal said it plainly: “Wide spread. Compare prices before trading.”
• Depth: 45/100. There is volume, but not always at the same price.
Practical takeaway: there are people to trade with in the market, but the visible price varies considerably from one level to the next. That means you need to check the book level by level, not just the first line.
🔎 Liquidity by bank: it’s not the same as a good price
The book groups 243 ads, with 309,770.12 USDT on the buy side and 163,150.19 USDT on the sell side. This 31% imbalance (almost twice the volume on one side) is market context, not a signal to act.
The useful thing is to drill down into the details by bank. Here are the figures from the snapshot:
Bank / method Ads Spread Liquidity % Score
Banesco 28 1.25% 26.4% 96
Pago Móvil 18 1.29% 17.0% 68
Bank of Venezuela 16 0.43% 15.1% 67
BANK 15 0.42% 14.2% 66
Other method 16 1.28% 15.1% 65
Mercantil 8 0.40% 7.5% 53
Treasury Bank 2 0.05% 1.9% 43
Read the table in both directions. Banesco holds the largest share of liquidity (26.4%), but has the widest spread among the main options (1.25%). Banco del Tesoro shows an almost perfect spread (0.05%)… with just 2 ads. A narrow spread without depth is an illusion: if your amount exceeds what’s available at that level, the price will slip away.
One technical detail that confuses many people: “Pago Móvil” appears as a payment method, not a bank. It groups offers from several institutions, so its average does not reflect the availability of any specific account.
💰 Offer limits: the detail that determines whether the price applies to you
This is where most expectations fall apart. The best price in the book is almost never one you can take in full. Look at the first sell levels:
