Bottom line: about $1.03 million in traditional assets was liquidated over the past hour, with longs accounting for 94.5%. Momentum-chasing positions were hit first, pointing clearly to a long squeeze.
Stock contracts accounted for $793,000 in liquidations, or 77% of the total; forex accounted for $232,000, while commodities made up just $2,753. The largest single liquidation was a NOK long on Hyperliquid, worth about $164,000—16% of the total for the hour.
This isn’t a broad sell-off across all asset classes; liquidations of long positions in stocks and forex are concentrated. Looking only at the total can obscure the differences. For now, it’s more important to watch whether momentum-chasing positions continue to get wiped out.
Do you think longs will continue to be liquidated, or is this wave nearing its end?
