Also unlocking this week: AXS is releasing 11.5% of its circulating supply at once, STBL accounts for about 46% of its market cap, while $ZK is releasing just 1.6% this time—the impact of an “unlock” can vary by an order of magnitude.

On October 17, ZK will release around 170 million tokens according to its vesting schedule, in two rounds for investors and the team, representing about 1.6% of the circulating supply. This isn’t a one-off event, either: monthly releases have been scheduled for the 17th of each month since last year, continuing through 2028. It’s a mechanical vesting schedule.

For comparison, this week’s unlocks are: SEI at 0.73%, STRK at 0.87%, ARB at 1.36%, and ZK at 1.61%—all relatively moderate. AXS at 11.5% and STBL at around 46% (as a share of market cap) are the real heavyweights. Historical data from Tokenomist also shows that ZK’s price hasn’t fluctuated much in the seven days following its past unlocks.

My take: when looking at unlocks, don’t focus only on the absolute number of tokens. The percentage of circulating supply is the right measure of impact. Mechanical vesting in the 1%–2% range has generally been priced in by the market, causing more of a sentiment-driven ripple. The ones really worth putting on your calendar are unlocks like AXS and STBL, with double-digit percentages. The value of an unlock calendar is knowing in advance “when it’s happening and how much,” rather than waiting until the day itself to check the charts.
