Odaily Planet Daily reported: According to two people familiar with the matter, US President Trump is expected to appoint the current US Director of National Intelligence, Jay Clayton, as the new White House AI affairs czar (“AI czar”), with the decision potentially announced as early as local Friday. In response, a White House official said that any personnel appointment will be announced directly by Trump himself, and that related reports prior to an official announcement are “baseless speculation.”
Clayton is expected to continue serving as Director of National Intelligence. Previously, Clayton served as Chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and led the SEC for much of Trump’s first term as president. Last month, Trump announced plans to establish an “AI Force” and appointed an AI affairs主管 to address regulatory discussions surrounding the rapid development of AI. Trump also told Axios earlier that Clayton is a suitable candidate for the role. (CNN)
