【Why can the crypto price move up and down by 20% in a single day?】
First-time users watching candlestick charts (K-lines) will be shocked: how can it rise 20% in one day, then fall back the next day? What’s actually going on?
1. Why is the volatility so high?
1️⃣ Trading never stops 24/7; there are no daily limit-up/limit-down rules, so when emotions kick in, everything gets pulled to the max
2️⃣ The market size is relatively small—one large transaction can cause big swings
3️⃣ News and sentiment dominate the market, and good/bad news gets amplified multiple times
2. What does high volatility mean?
✅ There are indeed more opportunities, but risks are just as big
✅ It rises fast and falls even faster—don’t only look at the side that’s going up
❌ High volatility + leverage = the fastest path to liquidation. Beginners, absolutely don’t touch it
3. How should beginners respond?
✅ Use spare money—if you lose it all, it won’t affect your life
✅ Dollar-cost averaging (DCA) can smooth out volatility, so you don’t need to guess the top or bottom
❌ Don’t rush in just because it’s up 20% in a day—you’re often looking at the peak when you see it
❌ Don’t panic and cut losses just because it’s down 20% in a day—your bottom might be right under your feet
One sentence: High volatility is the nature of the crypto market, not a bug. In this market, living longer matters more than making money faster.
