Before the end of 2026.. Russia is moving closer to regulating the cryptocurrency market
The cryptocurrency sector in Russia may begin operating within a legal framework before the end of 2026, according to Vladimir Chistyukhin, First Deputy Governor of the Russian Central Bank.
🔹 27 regulatory bylaws
Authorities are working to prepare 27 regulations, including 7 primary and 20 of the second tier. Six primary regulations have been sent to the Ministry of Justice.
🔹 Licenses are approaching
If the regulations are approved and registered on time, the first entities may obtain their licenses and be listed in the registry before the end of the year.
🔹 What does the system allow?
The law comes into effect on September 1, 2026, regulating the work of exchanges and brokers and asset managers, alongside crypto-currency exchange platforms and digital asset depositories.
As for non-accredited investors, they can buy Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tether USDT with a maximum of 300,000 rubles per year through a single broker, while accredited investors can trade all crypto-currencies available in the markets without any maximum amount limit.
Crypto-currencies may also be used for cross-border settlements without restrictions.
🔹 What does that mean for the market?
Meaning the completion of a regulatory framework that defines the entities allowed to operate, along with licensing and trading mechanisms, and the entry of new participants into the market legally once the procedures are completed.
