BullishJust took a look at $ETH , and my first reaction was:
That’s a hard hit—really brutal.
Highest 2789, lowest directly smashed down to 2635, and within 24 hours it’s close to -3%.
In one night, over 150 bucks just vanished.
But the even more wild part is:
OI dropped from 2.31M ETH to 2.297M ETH, and leverage has been steadily pulling back;
Top Trader’s positioning is still 60.6% long-leaning, and the funding rate is only around 0.005%.
So it’s like the price is getting smashed, and people are running—but it hasn’t reached that stage where the whole crowd is completely going crazy short.
ETH is one of those coins that’s especially punchable right now:
When it’s up, people say it’s too expensive,
when it drops, they start panicking again,
and when it finally pulls back, the whole internet starts asking, “Is it still a good time to get in?”
What I care about most right now isn’t how much it will drop.
It’s: in this round, how many people will get shaken out 😂

Combined with uncertainties such as developments in U.S.–Iran relations, both U.S. stocks and cryptocurrencies faced downward pressure in tandem. Bitcoin briefly fell below $85,000, with a roughly 2% drop over 24 hours. It is currently trading around $84,000. Earlier, in the prior week, it had rebounded strongly from the lows—up more than 14%—and even reached a range around $87,000, while the total market capitalization also returned above $3 trillion.
Meanwhile, an institutional survey shows that among 15 major investors, none reduced holdings during the roughly 50% drawdown from late 2025 to April 2026; some even added positions, indicating that the long-term allocation thesis has not wavered.
My view:
A short-term pullback is normal. When macro data turns stronger and rate expectations change, risk assets are often sold first—and cryptocurrencies are even more sensitive. However, this move—rebounding from above $70,000 to nearly $87,000—has been supported by continued ETF inflows, stable institutional holdings, and tangible cooperation such as Binance’s $100 million investment in Circle. This suggests the market is no longer driven purely by speculation.
What’s really worth watching isn’t how much it fell today, but the “ability to hold through a 50% retracement without leaving” shown by institutions. As long as macro conditions don’t deteriorate completely, this kind of dip may actually serve as fuel for further upside. Personally, I remain bullish on Bitcoin’s institutionalization in the medium to long term. For now, short-term volatility can be seen as market “washing”—don’t be scared into getting off the train.
