According to CNBC, Tesla has registered a local entity, Tesla Motors Vietnam, this month, laying the groundwork for a possible entry into Vietnam's fast-growing electric vehicle market. Analysts said the company would face a dominant local rival in VinFast, which controls most of the domestic EV market and has built a broad charging and after-sales ecosystem through its parent, Vingroup. VinFast sold more than 154,000 vehicles in Vietnam in the first eight months of 2026 and said it has been the country's top-selling automaker for 24 consecutive months. Analysts said Tesla's Model 3 and Model Y would likely be the first models offered in Vietnam, with the brand initially better positioned for premium buyers than the mass market.
