The worst commodities market position tonight was long crude oil—over the past 24 hours, it was wiped out for $7.18 million.
WTI and Brent combined saw $7.47 million liquidated, with 96% being long positions. The largest single order happened tonight at 6:17—on Hyperliquid, one 16,000-barrel WTI long position was liquidated for $1.49 million. A few minutes later, Brent had another $1.03 million long order; it was all buy orders from people chasing longs.
The situation on the stock side is exactly the opposite: throughout the day, $16.16 million was liquidated, and 80% of it hit the short side. The #1 liquidated contract on the platform, SanDisk, saw $4.41 million wiped out in a single day, with 70% of that also going to shorts.
Gold wasn’t spared either—of the $1.08 million liquidated, nearly 70% was long positions. Commodities longs were clearly even more crowded tonight. If you’re on the right direction you can still get swept; position sizing is what keeps you alive.
