According to a report by CoinDesk, Foresight News: Matt Prusak, President and Acting CFO of American Bitcoin (ABTC), a Bitcoin-mining company associated with the Trump family, announced his resignation, effective August 4. He will join AI and energy infrastructure developer Giga Energy, serving as Chief Operating Officer and Acting CFO. In an email, Prusak said, “After years of building the Bitcoin business,” he will shift to “upstream power infrastructure that is currently constraining mining and AI computing power.”

American Bitcoin, supported by Hut 8 and co-founded by Eric Trump, is listed on Nasdaq. Prusak previously served as one of the public spokespersons for the company’s Bitcoin hoarding strategy, responsible for outlining key areas such as computing power expansion and growth in Bitcoin holdings per share. Its new parent, Giga Energy, is headquartered in Houston. It focuses on the development and manufacturing of electrical equipment and AI data center infrastructure. According to its description, it has delivered more than 6.5 GW of power infrastructure and is developing more than 500 MW of AI-ready data center capacity.

Reports indicate that this personnel change reflects the fact that bitcoin mining companies are overall shifting toward AI and power infrastructure. As mining business profit margins come under pressure, more and more mining firms are leveraging their expertise in electricity, land, and data centers to meet AI computing demand. The availability of power resources has become one of the main bottlenecks for expanding computing capacity.
