Coin World reports that U.S. Secretary of State Rubio, in an interview with Fox News, said that due to Washington’s military strikes, Iran is now more willing to negotiate on issues including its nuclear program and the Strait of Hormuz. Rubio reiterated that the U.S. strikes destroyed Iran’s navy, air force, missile defense systems, launch facilities, and weapon production sites, and “severely weakened” its defensive capabilities. “They still have missiles and drones and can still cause damage,” Rubio said. But he claimed that Iran no longer has the “conventional shield” it had previously intended to hide behind. “This changes the entire landscape. This is the only reason they are now willing—to some extent even seemingly eager—to reach an agreement on denuclearization and to reach an agreement on the strait issue. Because we are now dealing with them from a position of strength, not weakness,” he said.
