Oh, what a good thing! Ripple, that finance company behind the so-called XRP token — which is already the fourth largest in the cryptocurrency market — could be worth a trillion dollars in the future. At least that's what its CEO, Brad Garlinghouse, truly believes.
In a meeting with the XRP fan community, the man said he is convinced that a crypto company will reach this mark, something that only big players like Nvidia, Apple, and Alphabet have achieved so far.
"There will indeed be a cryptocurrency company worth a trillion, I have no doubt," he said. "And if Ripple does everything right, along with the XRP ecosystem, it could be her."
And he even added: “Who knows, maybe more than one, right.”
To give you an idea, in November Ripple raised half a billion dollars with some heavyweight investors, like Citadel Securities and Fortress Investment Group, and was valued at around 40 billion. But to reach a trillion, you have to multiply that by 25 times, you know?
Even with the ups and downs of the market — XRP and Bitcoin fell more than 30% in the last month — Garlinghouse asked for calm from the people. He said that the path is still long, but the chance to improve and streamline the financial infrastructure is huge.
Last year, the company grew a lot, bought a brokerage, a treasury company, and even invested in stablecoin. But now the focus is more on integrating everything than on buying more things. He also made it clear that Ripple's 'north' is XRP, which is like the guiding star of the firm.
The token, which has already hit a price record, is currently somewhat declining, but it remains the heart of the company's strategy.
