According to Cointelegraph, phishing scammers cloned the websites of crypto media Blockworks and Ethereum blockchain scanner Etherscan to trick unsuspecting readers into interacting with the phishing websites. The cloned Blockworks website displays a fake "breaking" news report about the alleged multi-million dollar "approval vulnerability" on decentralized exchange Uniswap, and encourages users to visit the fake Etherscan website to revoke approvals. The fake Etherscan website displays a so-called token and smart contract approval checker, which actually contains a smart contract that may empty crypto wallets when connected. Domain age checks show that the fake Etherscan website (approvalscan.io) was registered on October 25, and the fake Blockworks website (blockworks.media) was registered a day later.
