According to Cointelegraph, the UK data regulator has issued a warning about the new artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot "My AI" from the social media platform Snapchat. On October 6, the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) issued a preliminary notice to Snapchat's parent company Snap Inc. and Snap Group, saying that they may have failed to "properly assess" the privacy risks posed by the chatbot. This notice is based on the regulator's preliminary investigation into the company, saying that it failed to adequately identify the risks of millions of users (including children aged 13-17) before the launch of "My AI". According to the notice, if a final enforcement notice is issued, Snap may be forced to stop data processing related to "My AI", which will prevent it from providing services to British users without an "adequate" risk assessment. At present, the ICO said that no conclusions should be drawn from the current stage of the investigation.
