🇦🇷 The director of the Central Bank of Argentina, Juan Agustin D'Attellis Noguera, supported his colleague, Economy Minister Sergio Massa, in promoting the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) as a means for the national economy. D'Attellis believes that the "digital peso" (PAD) could stabilize the Argentine economy by 2024.
The main advantage of CBDC is traceability, which will help the state collect taxes:
- Expansion of the tax base
- Possibility of tax reduction
The digital peso will also help solve the country's monetary problems, as the unstable local currency, the peso, often competes with the US dollar even as a payment method.
D'Attellis assured that CBDC will be implemented gradually, coexisting with cash, and the final replacement of paper bills will occur in the last stage of the project.
