A 99% buy tax dressed up as “anti-sniping”—the comments are full of applause, and I can’t help but laugh a little.

The Mutual Fun opened trading today on Robinhood Chain: Pass holders mint a Seat first; the two together cost 0.02 ETH, with the money going to one of five community funds. TMF launched on Stonkbrokers at the same time, with a 99% opening tax that gradually decreases over time.

To put it plainly: if you rush in at launch, you pay full price and get 1% of the tokens. That’s not my interpretation—@Cryptking_1 spelled it out in their own post: “paying full price but receiving only 1%.”

So where does the other 99% go? It’s clear that the Seat money goes to the funds. I scrolled through the popular posts, but didn’t see anyone explain where the tax goes. If it hasn’t been explained, it’s probably not meant for you to know.

Now look at who’s shouting about it: “NFTs are making a comeback,” “the only mint CT is talking about today.” They say they don’t have a Pass and will wait for the secondary market to cool down before picking one up, while helping hype it up. The hotter it gets, the more people will be tempted to jump in while the tax is still high.

Anti-sniping measures are meant to stop bots, but it’s often impatient retail traders who end up paying the price. I’m not touching it until the tax drops to single digits.

TMF long idea at market, 29.33 on the perp, daily chart. TMF is the 3x long 20+ year Treasury bond fund, and long bonds are turning up as markets go risk-off.

Stop is 27.63. Targets are 29.64, 31.47 and 33.40. The first one is close, the bigger move sits at the other two.

That's about +1.1%, +7.3% and +13.9% to the targets, against roughly 5.8% to the stop. It also works as a hedge for other risk-on positions. I'd risk 1-2% of capital at the stop and size from that.
