Hex founder Richard Heart was detained in Istanbul this morning. According to Turkish media reports, Istanbul police and the National Intelligence Organization carried out the arrest under an Interpol Red Notice. Heart and his wife were taken into custody.
During the operation, police found more than a dozen mobile phones, several laptops, rifles, handguns, two drones, and a large amount of cash in multiple currencies at his residence. The warrant was requested by Finland in 2024 and relates to serious tax fraud allegations. In 2023, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission accused Heart of raising more than $1 billion through unregistered offerings involving projects such as $HEX. The case was dismissed by a federal judge in February 2025 on the grounds of lack of jurisdiction. It remains unclear whether Finland has requested his extradition from Turkey.
