Introduction
More and more retail traders are taking an interest in Expert Advisors (EAs) and trading bots, often with the idea that automating a strategy amounts to removing risk or human error. The reality is more nuanced: automation changes the nature of the trader’s work; it doesn’t eliminate it.
1. What automation actually solves
An algorithm has no emotions at the time of execution. It does not double its position in revenge after a loss, it does not exit too early out of fear, it applies the rule exactly as it was coded, every time, without fatigue or momentary bias. That’s its main advantage: the consistency of execution.
