XMR Network Maintenance Proposal | Separate Anonymous Connections from Public Network Maintenance | Wait for Confirmation Near $617 My stance is cautious observation. I would not treat an unmerged code proposal as bullish for the price. On November 5, a pull request, PR #11685, appeared in Monero’s official code repository. Its author wants to isolate connection maintenance across different network zones, so that attempts to connect to slow anonymous networks do not delay maintenance of public-network nodes. The author also explicitly states: do not merge this proposal until its dependency, #11652, has been merged and the related locks have been added. The page is still Open and awaiting review; this is not a deployed upgrade, much less evidence that “a major Monero network outage has occurred.” Why should traders care? XMR’s user experience depends on node discovery, synchronization, and transaction broadcasting. If one type of connection slows maintenance tasks for other network zones, node operators may experience delayed connection recovery, which could also affect the synchronization or broadcasting experience in wallets. Separating maintenance work by network zone is directionally helpful in reducing interference, but the actual impact will depend on review, testing, merging, and deployment in a future release. The reliability of anonymous networks is relevant to Monero’s privacy narrative, but it cannot be directly translated into new users, on-chain transactions, or token revenue. Calling something “in development” “resolved” would overstate the catalyst at hand. How has the market reacted so far? At the time of writing, the latest XMR/USD trade on Kraken was around $617.48, with a 24-hour range of about $605 to $644.26 and a daily open near $617.17. The price is close to the daily open, so I currently see no evidence that this PR alone is driving a sustained trend; overall market risk appetite, liquidity, and exchange quotes can also influence short-term moves. The hottest topics on Binance Square focus on platform withdrawals, security developments, and weakness in U.S. stocks, while XMR is not among the Most Searched assets; so I won’t force a connection to trending topics. The latest official version listed on the official blog is 0.18.5.4, dated October 16, which does not mean this proposal has already been included in a release. The key levels I’m watching first are the 24-hour low near $605 and the day’s high near $624, followed by the 24-hour upper bound at $644. If the price holds above $624 and trading activity continues to improve, that would suggest short-term selling pressure is easing; if it falls below $605 and keeps declining, my current expectation of a rebound would be invalidated. These levels are part of the current framework for observation, not a prediction that they will necessarily be reached. In particular, when macro risk is elevated, momentary spreads in smaller coins can turn a stop-loss on paper into a worse actual execution. If I were trading this myself: I would stay out for now, with only a small spot long as a tentative directional plan; my current position is 0%. I would consider a trade with no more than 1% of total capital, without leverage, only after the official PR’s required dependencies and review are complete and XMR has moved back above $624 and held there. I’d look for an initial target of $638 to $644, take half off near $638, and close the rest if it cannot break through $644. After entry, I’d reduce the position first if the price falls back below $617, and immediately exit at a loss if it drops below $605 or an official negative security announcement appears. If the conditions are never met, I’ll continue to stay on the sidelines rather than presenting a plan as an executed trade.
