The internet has revolutionized the way we live, work and communicate. But with this progress has come a lack of privacy and anonymity, leaving users vulnerable to surveillance and tracking. The MASQ project aims to change this by providing a decentralized mesh network that offers privacy and anonymity to its users.

The MASQ network is made up of nodes and groups of nodes called 'neighborhoods.' When a user runs the MASQ Node software and requests content online, their requests are packaged into CORES packages of data and routed across other users' nodes in the network. By using a minimum of three node 'hops,' the content request is retrieved from locations where it is available to other nodes. Nodes don’t necessarily take the same route each time for traffic, and the network self-heals if nodes go offline and leave the network.

This decentralized mesh network ensures that no central authority can monitor or control the network. The network is effectively a pool of all users Internet Service Providers connections from all over the world, available to everybody with MASQ tokens. Whenever content is requested by a user, the MASQ network won’t stop until it’s found the content, going to all countries and ISPs necessary until it’s found. That’s the internet as it was intended. Global, private, and uncensored.

The MASQ Utility Token is used within the ecosystem to incentivize users to share data with each other. When a user serves MBs of data to other users, they earn MASQ tokens. When they consume data, they spend MASQ tokens. This system incentivizes high-bandwidth connections and ensures that the network functions smoothly.

The MASQ Utility Token is built on Ethereum and uses Polygon for cheap and fast transactions. This means that transactions are fast and inexpensive, making it easier for users to participate in the MASQ network and earn MASQ Utility Tokens.

The MASQ project offers several advantages over traditional VPNs. Unlike VPNs that rely on centralized servers, the MASQ network is decentralized, making it more resilient to attacks and censorship.
