CRYPTO THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO REPLACE BITCOIN'S POSITION

Just because Bitcoin was the first digital currency, doesn't mean it will be around forever.

The shriveling Bitcoin (BTC) is aptly described as the grandfather of cryptocurrencies. Launched in 2009, it was the first digital currency and promised to change cash as we know it. The type of electronic money that people can exchange easily, safely and cheaply without the need for intermediaries? It's no surprise that Bitcoin has captured people's imagination.

However, it is not interesting to measure that Bitcoin will always be at the top. Here are four cryptocurrencies that might have a chance to replace bitcoin.

1. BEST POTENTIAL TO REPLACE BITCOIN IN TERMS OF FUNCTIONALITY: Ethereum (ETH)

Ethereum is the second largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, and currently, it is likely to replace Bitcoin. It is the first company to introduce smart contracts, which are small pieces of code that exist on the blockchain.

2. BEST POSITION TO REPLACE BITCOIN IN CASE OF DESIRE: Cardano (ADA)

Cardano is known as a third-generation cryptocurrency that aims to fix some of the problems faced by Ethereum and Bitcoin. The mission is to use blockchain technology to solve real-world problems, and it takes a research-driven development approach.

3. POSITIONED TO REPLACE BITCOIN IN TERMS OF SPEED: Solana (SOL)

Bitcoin can only process about seven transactions per second (TPS), so almost all cryptocurrencies are faster. But Solana is much faster. It can process over 50,000 TPS, making it much more scalable than Bitcoin and many other cryptocurrencies.

It is worth noting that there are many new programmable blockchains that may one day replace Ethereum. But right now, if anything is going to overtake Bitcoin, Ethereum is the shriveling one.
