For a chain’s long-term prospects, I pay more attention to what’s happening without a company having to push it.
$DOGE has two kinds of signs. On the community side, things happen organically: people pooled money in 2014 to send the Jamaican bobsled team to the Sochi Winter Olympics, Doge4Water dug wells in Kenya, and the community sponsored NASCAR driver Josh Wise’s car. On the code side, projects are built into the roadmap: after the Dogecoin Foundation reorganized in 2021, it rolled out Libdogecoin, GigaWallet, and RadioDoge, each aimed at a different bottleneck: a library for developers, a payment backend for merchants, and low-bandwidth broadcasting.
Neither side affects short-term market trends, but if people are still talking about the bobsled team ten years later and the projects are still releasing updates, that shows the chain still has people maintaining it and contributing to it.
