Zhou Chang, a core AI research leader at ByteDance’s Seed team, reportedly submitted his resignation last week and may start a company focused on embodied intelligence. According to ChainCatcher, citing a report by Top Chinese Tech, investors from major funds, large technology companies, and a leading AI-model unicorn have approached him. People close to Zhou denied that he had resigned. Public information shows he earned a bachelor’s degree from Fudan University and a doctorate from Peking University, led the Tongyi Qianwen large-model team at Alibaba, and later joined ByteDance, where he worked on Seed’s multimodal interaction, world model, and robotics efforts. Former Alibaba team members have also reportedly submitted resignations, and the two may start a company together.
