On October 22 (UTC+8), Axios Pro reported that Visa was in advanced talks to acquire custody firm Fireblocks for about $2.5 billion. The Block updated its report the same day: Fireblocks responded, “We are aware of the rumors about Visa acquiring Fireblocks. This is news to us, and it is not true at this time.” A Visa spokesperson said, “We do not comment on rumors or speculation.”

Founded in 2018, Fireblocks provides custody and stablecoin infrastructure. After a funding round in January 2022, its publicly disclosed valuation was about $8 billion. In September 2025, it also launched a stablecoin payments network with more than 40 participants, including Circle. By comparison, Visa says its annualized stablecoin settlement volume has exceeded $20 billion; Mastercard completed its acquisition of BVNK in August for up to about $1.8 billion.

Markets were also weak: $BTC was around 81770, down about 2.6% over 24 hours; $ETH was around 2413, also down about 2.6%. Rumors and denials came in quick succession. Stick to the facts for now; don’t treat this as a done deal.
