Ethereum core validator client Prysm released an emergency v7.2.1 patch on Monday evening to support the Glamsterdam upgrade rehearsal scheduled to activate on the Sepolia testnet at 13:53:36 UTC on October 6. The test will sharply raise Sepolia’s per-block gas limit from around 60 million to 200 million, aiming to test how validator hardware performs under more than triple the load and assess the feasibility of scaling the mainnet. Without the upgrade, validators running older client versions will continue proposing blocks with a 60 million gas limit by default, diluting the effects of the stress test; the new version has the 200 million gas setting built in and will automatically propose oversized blocks after activation. Officials emphasized that the 200 million gas limit currently applies only to the Sepolia testnet and has not yet gone live on Ethereum mainnet. (CoinDesk)
