Here's what happened when Binance invested $100 million in Circle.
Traders keep jumping on these partnership headlines and piling into $USDC, ignoring how it could concentrate risk right inside the $BNB ecosystem. One wrong regulatory move and those "stable" positions start looking anything but.
Binance put $100 million into Circle and signed a five-year deal to expand $USDC across its products. Most saw it as expansion. Few remembered that Binance already had to kill BUSD after regulators came knocking.
Circle is not some untouchable entity either. $USDC lost its peg in 2023 when Silicon Valley Bank went under and billions sat frozen.
This move could simply shift more volume from $USDT onto a single issuer still facing US scrutiny. The five-year commitment means users get locked into that exposure whether they like it or not. What looks like diversification on the surface often just relocates the same old risks.
Where do you think this leaves traders holding stables on the platform?
