With ZEC rallying like this, the shorts can’t hold on at all. In the past 24 hours, it’s up 7.7%. Binance and OKX have aligned prices: the current price is around $1633, the high reached 1680, and the low was just 1496. It bounced around wildly within a day, moving up and down by about 12%.

Even with the price up like this, the shorts refuse to give up no matter what. The result: in the last 24 hours, liquidations across the entire network totaled $27.91 million, with 89% being short positions and only 10% long. On Hyperliquid it’s even more extreme: in a $6.2 million liquidation, shorts accounted for 99%—there’s hardly anything on the long side.

The largest single order was a short position of 488 ZEC on Hyperliquid. It was closed at once for $785,000, yet at a price of only 1607 it was already buried. Positions that keep getting added to short as the price rises—adding and then dying hard—are the main fuel behind this round of the market.

However, in the past hour the wind has shifted. In the liquidation, 87% was actually long positions, which shows that people who chased the price to enter are also starting to get cut. The price has already fallen about 2.8% from its highest point.
