In late July, Trump’s reported account bought Strategy, near $MSTR
the year’s low point, but not on the day of the absolute low.

In the U.S. Office of Government Ethics’ regular transaction report released on September 22, there were 1,156 securities transactions in July. Strategy, category A, has three trades: on July 8 it sold $10,010 to $15,000, on July 24 it bought in the same range, and on July 27 it bought $50,000 to $100,000. This isn’t the first time. In the May filings covering January through March, there are eight trades; June has two sell orders and no buys. The trades on the 24th and 27th were entered on the later window for the new entries.

The year’s low point was June 26, at $81.81 intraday. On July 24 it closed at $91.67, with an intraday high of $89.76; on July 27 it closed at $98.65. By September 22, it closed at $167.33, up about 83% versus the July 24 close and up about 70% versus the July 27 close. The table only shows amount ranges—no share counts or transaction prices—so you can’t determine how much was earned on this trade.

The White House says these transactions were carried out in fully delegated accounts by a third-party institution. In the same table, on July 20 Microsoft and Amazon each sold $5 million to $25 million. For the larger Strategy trade, the upper limit is $100,000.
