๐Ÿ“ฐ Grayscale has renamed its โ€œBitcoin miner ETF.โ€

This time, itโ€™s not just a name change: the fundโ€™s name has been changed to the โ€œGrayscale AI Compute ETF,โ€ the NYSE ticker code has been changed from MNRS to GCPU, and the tracking index has also been switchedโ€”from the Indxx Bitcoin Miners Index to the Indxx High Performance Computing Index.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Honestly, this is quite interesting. A fund that used to revolve around Bitcoin miners has now shifted its investment focus to companies that build and operate AI infrastructureโ€”the fundโ€™s positioning has clearly changed.

๐Ÿ’ก According to the announcement, about half of GCPUโ€™s holdings will go to native AI compute companies, with the rest allocated to digital infrastructure operators that have already publicly committed to pivoting to AI business, including some firms that have moved over from Bitcoin mining.

This suggests that mining firms havenโ€™t completely left the tableโ€”theyโ€™ve simply gained another path for their business. For these companies, their original mining capabilities, data centers, and power resources are being repriced within this new AI compute framework.

๐Ÿค” But the question is also very straightforward: when a fund shifts from โ€œBitcoin minersโ€ to โ€œAI compute,โ€ will investors still think of it as part of the mining sector?
