In the past 24 hours, total liquidations across the entire network were $810 million. Bitcoin alone accounted for $400 million; the second-largest ETH at $191 million is not even half of that. Of the $400 million, about 80% were shorts. Within a day, the price surged from 83,900 to 87,395, and short-side leverage couldn’t withstand this kind of move.

The wind direction changed once during the day. In the liquidations from the last 12 hours, 76% shifted to longs. Longs who chased the price got wiped out in a round of pullbacks.

In the last hour, the knife is back on the throats of the shorts again: a $117.9 million liquidation, 75% of which were short positions. The largest single trade was a short order on Binance at 3:34 a.m.: 100 BTC, $8.75 million—cleared in one shot.

Within a day, longs and shorts alternately get cut, and those with heavy positions are the hardest to endure. Do you think you can still get back to 87,000?
