Squatting at the square to study | Evening notes for 2026-09-06

CoinGecko trending searches: Lil' Shrub (SHRUB) (market cap rank 643), Firo (FIRO) (market cap rank 905), CLUSTER PROTOCOL (CP) (market cap rank 550); Binance new updates "Binance Futures Will L" and "Binance Will Add MarsCoin"; $BTC 24h +0.2%, $ETH 24h +1.7%—no matter how noisy things get, the newbie only picks one sentence related to today's topic.

Today’s review topic is "stablecoins": having the word stable in the name does not mean absolutely no risk. They are often used as temporary parking spots between volatile assets (for example, when discussing $BTC ), but mechanisms, reserves, depegging, and platform rules can all go wrong.

**Newbie principles**
1) First distinguish: fiat-backed, crypto-backed, algorithmic... different mechanisms, different risks
2) "Pegged" is a target, not a law of physics
3) Before storing a large amount long-term in any single form, read the rules and historical events first

I’m still learning, and I’m not recommending any specific stablecoin operations here.
The purpose of this record: one less superstitious belief, one more fact check.

Have you used stablecoins? Have you encountered rule changes or slippage?
