Qatar pushes diplomacy in Tehran as Hormuz remains a key bottleneck

🤝 Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani visited Tehran and met Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and other senior Iranian officials in an effort to support de-escalation and revive dialogue.

🚢 The Strait of Hormuz was a central focus, with discussions covering a temporary Iran-Oman maritime corridor and joint mine-clearing efforts. Qatar also stressed restoring freedom of navigation and returning conditions closer to those before February 28.

🇺🇸 However, the US continues to say it is not holding direct talks with Iran, indicating that the gap between the two sides remains significant. No new agreement has been announced on fully reopening Hormuz.

📉 For oil markets, diplomatic progress may ease part of the geopolitical risk premium, but the effect could remain limited unless concrete maritime measures emerge in the coming days.
