Predictive markets platform Zeitgeist on the Polkadot blockchain has entered into an agreement to use CoinDesk Indices benchmarks to bet on two categories of cryptocurrencies. Traders will be able to place bets on the CoinDesk DeFi Select and CoinDesk Smart Contract Platform Select indices.
The DeFi index tracks a basket of decentralized finance tokens such as AAVE, CRV, MKR, LDO, SNX and UNI. Another index measures the performance of multi-purpose blockchain coins such as AVAX, ADA, ATOM, ETH, DOT, MATIC and SOL.
However, prediction markets, like cryptocurrencies, face an inhospitable regulatory environment in the US, limiting participation.
