Clawback: Safer or a Double-Edged Sword? 😏
XLS-39 Clawback, part of XRP Ledger Version 1.12.0, allows asset issuers to “take back” assets in the event of suspicious activity or for account recovery.
However, this feature sparked debate in the XRP community, due to concerns about giving issuers too much control and potential abuse.
What can be done with Clawback?
1. Asset Recovery: if a token holder loses access to the account, the clawback feature returns control to the issuer by redirecting tokens to another wallet.
2. Fraudulent Activities: if the asset is equipped with Clawback function, the issuer can take action by taking back funds from token holders if it is suspicious.
This feature is disabled by default, so users don't need to worry about their assets being taken back carelessly. However, it can only be activated for tokens other than XRP.
However, Clawback caused a stir in the XRP community. Some say this feature gives issuers too much control over token holders, others say it's a double-edged sword that will be abused.
What do you think about this Clawback feature? Will this bring more security or create new problems? Come on, discuss it in the comments column! 👇
