This is a general announcement. Products and services referred to here may not be available in your region.

Fellow Binancians,

Binance Margin recently announced upcoming changes to Cross Margin Pro, which were originally scheduled to occur on 2025-01-21 10:00 (UTC)

To better ensure the stability of the Cross Margin Pro service and the safety of users’ positions, Binance Margin will instead implement a gradual rollout of the following changes across users’ Cross Margin Pro accounts.

Key Updates:

Margin Requirements

  • Initial and Maintenance Margin requirements will be adjusted for all Cross Margin Pro accounts on 2025-01-21 10:00 (UTC), as originally scheduled.

Changes to Margin Level Calculations

These changes will be rolled out across Cross Margin Pro accounts gradually over the following weeks.

  • Collateral Haircuts: Collateral haircuts will be applied when calculating collateral values as part of Margin Level calculations.

  • Open Order Loss: Due to collateral haircuts, the collateral value of assets to be bought in an open order may be less than the collateral value of assets to be sold in the same order. This loss in collateral value is recognized when the order is placed, which is factored into Margin Level calculations and maximum borrow or transfer amounts.

Please note:

  • The changes to Margin Level calculations and the impact of collateral haircuts may potentially increase the risk of liquidations. Users are advised to maintain sufficient assets as a buffer against potential changes to their Margin Levels. Please refer to this FAQ for more details.

  • Users may find out more about the rollout progress of the upcoming changes to Cross Margin Pro in the banner section of the Cross Margin trading page. The banner will contain details on when the aforementioned changes will occur, and which UIDs are affected.

    • The banner section in the trading page can be found as a pop-up at the bottom right corner on Web, and on top of users’ screens in the Binance App.
