Early on I thought wBTC just was Bitcoin with extra steps. Took me embarrassingly long to actually understand I was holding an IOU backed by a custodian, not Bitcoin itself. Found that out the hard way when I tried explaining it to someone and realized I couldn't.
That gap is exactly what Babylon's Trustless Bitcoin Vaults close. No wrapped token standing in for your BTC the actual Bitcoin stays locked in a script you co-sign.
