Gaming hardware company Razer has allegedly suffered a data breach, with a seller on a hacker forum seeking to sell the stolen data for US$100,000 (S$134,898) in cryptocurrency last Saturday, The Straits Times reported.
Razer tweeted on Monday that it is aware of the possible data breach and is investigating.
The Straits Times investigation found that the data being sold included source code and backend access logins for Razer's websites and its products. It included folders called zVault, Razer's digital wallet launched in March 2017 and later replaced by Razer Gold in December 2018, as well as folders allegedly containing encryption keys and files related to its rewards system.
A sample seen by The Straits Times also showed email addresses of customers with virtual credit in Razer Gold accounts. The seller claimed to have information on 404,000 accounts, but this could not be verified.
On the hacker forum, the seller said he would sell the data to a client for $100,000 in Monero, but added that he was willing to accept offers below the stated amount.
