#Linea (formerly ConsenSys zkEVM) is a type 2 zero-knowledge #Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM) created by Consensys, the team behind MetaMask. It replicates the Ethereum environment as an aggregation and allows developers to use the same tools and experience they would use on the Ethereum mainnet.

ConsenSys was built starting from the Ethereum genesis block to be the most powerful decentralization force on the planet. The ConsenSys team believes that humanity can achieve more thanks to networks like Ethereum. Their team will manage the Linea project in the same way as other public goods, aiming for full decentralization and a commitment to open development.

With Linea, users can benefit from the security and trust of Ethereum with lower transaction costs. Impressively, Linea has raised around $726 million across multiple funding rounds and has a valuation of around $7 billion. This surpasses zkSync, which has raised US$458 million so far. That's why many people see Linea as having great potential.

On March 28, 2023, Linea rolled out its public testnet on MetaMask to all Chrome users. Users flocked to try out the Linea testnet in hopes of positioning themselves for a potential Linea airdrop. This is because they see Linea as having huge airdrop earning potential that could rival zkSync.

Is There a Linea Token?

There is no mention of a Linea token yet in the whitepaper and documentation. According to a Consensys blog post dated December 13, 2022, they mentioned that it is too early to discuss launching a Linea token. However, they stated that they are looking for ways to reward users who help test and improve Linea. With the interest and funding they have generated, there is a high probability they will launch a token and do an airdrop in the future.

But at this point, Linea has launched an authentication task for users who have completed the testnet task. This shows that Linea has a very high probability of making #Airdrop in the coming days.

Additionally, with the authentication task, users who perform multi-tasking are expected to be eliminated.
